Adding a licence
Eventfox is free for hobby sites that don't earn money. Anything that earns money, and any organisation, needs a paid licence. A licence is a block of text you paste into Eventfox once.
Which plan do I need?
| If | You need |
|---|---|
| A hobby site or app that doesn't earn money (including through adverts, sponsorship, affiliate links, donations or client work), one user, up to 10 projects | Free: no licence |
| One person whose sites earn money, freelancers included | Pro: one user, unlimited projects |
| A business or organisation with up to 10 people | Team |
| A larger business or organisation, or you need the business features | Business |
Charities and clubs: please buy a licence, or ask through the contact form. The exact terms are in the Eventfox Licence and the prices are on the pricing page.
Installing a licence
- Sign in as an admin and choose Licence in the menu, under Organisation.
- Paste the whole licence text (it starts with
EF1.) and choose Install licence. - The page shows who the licence is for, how many users it covers, its features and when it expires.
Eventfox checks the licence's signature on your own server. To replace a licence, install the new one on top. Nothing else changes and no data is touched.
Renewals
Paid licences renew automatically. Once a day Eventfox asks eventfox.dev for a newer key, sending only your licence key, and stores it if one is waiting. You paste a licence only once, when you buy. The Licence page says when it last checked and has a Check now button for admins. Your analytics data never leaves your server. If you cancel or are refunded, nothing is switched off: no newer key is issued, and your current licence runs to its expiry date. The server needs to reach https://eventfox.dev; if it can't and the licence is close to its end, the Licence page tells you.
From the command line, licence:install, licence:status and licence:remove do the same: see Command line.
When a licence ends
When a licence expires, Eventfox goes back to the Free plan and shows a warning on the Licence page. Nobody is locked out and no data is touched; admins just can't add users or projects past the Free limits until a current licence is installed.
