Terms of sale and the Eventfox Licence

A paid licence runs to the end of the period you paid for plus 14 days, and renews by itself while your subscription is paid. Refunds are 14 days, no questions asked. The Eventfox Licence is free for hobby sites that don't earn money and is governed by Scots law.

Who sells Eventfox

Eventfox is made and licensed by Ryan Bell. Payments are taken by Lemon Squeezy, who are the merchant of record: they charge you, work out and collect VAT or sales tax, and send your receipt. Your payment details go to them, never to us. The prices are on the pricing page.

What you get

A licence is a key for the plan you bought (Pro, Team or Business). It sets how many people can sign in and which business features are on, and it works until the expiry date it shows. It is checked on your own server. When you buy, we email the key and show it on a page you open from the email link.

Renewals and cancelling

A licence ends 14 days after the period you paid for, which gives a payment time to arrive. While your subscription is paid, Eventfox collects each new key by itself: once a day it asks eventfox.dev for a newer one and sends only your licence key, nothing else. You never paste a renewal. To cancel, use the link in the receipt email from Lemon Squeezy. Cancelling stops further payments and further renewals. Your current licence keeps working until its expiry date, and nothing is switched off early or removed from your server.

Refunds

You can have your money back within 14 days of a payment, no questions asked. Send us a message through the contact form with your receipt. A refund stops new payments, so no newer key is issued. As with cancelling, the licence you already have runs to its expiry date.

The software licence

Using Eventfox is covered by the Eventfox Licence, in full below. If something here and the Eventfox Licence disagree about how the software may be used, the Eventfox Licence wins.

Eventfox Licence, version 1.0

Copyright (c) 2026 Ryan Bell. All rights reserved.

In this licence, "the licensor", "we" and "us" mean Ryan Bell, and "you" means the person or organisation using Eventfox.

This licence covers the Eventfox software, meaning the server application and its container images, including any updates the licensor provides. It does not cover the browser tracking script (@eventfox/web), which has its own MIT licence in its own folder.

1. Free personal use

You may install and use Eventfox free of charge for personal use. Personal use means an individual using it for their own hobby websites or apps that are not run for a business, organisation or any commercial purpose, and that don't earn money (including through sales, adverts, sponsorships, affiliate links, donations or client work). Free personal use is limited to one user account and ten projects per installation.

2. Paid licences

Any other use needs a valid paid licence key bought from the licensor, used within the plan, number of users and features that key includes, and only while it's in date:

  • Pro: one person using Eventfox for their own websites or apps that earn money, including freelance work for their own clients. One user.
  • Team: any business or organisation, with up to ten users.
  • Business: any business or organisation, with the number of users on the licence key (or unlimited), and the business features that key includes.

Business use includes use by or for a company, sole trader, partnership, agency, charity, school, club, public body or other organisation, unless the licensor agrees otherwise in writing.

3. What you may not do

You may not:

  • give, sell, rent or lend copies of Eventfox to anyone else, or publish it, except that a business may let its own staff and contractors use its installation;
  • offer Eventfox, or anything built mainly from it, to others as a hosted or managed service;
  • remove, disable or get around the licence key check, the user limits or any feature that a licence key controls, or help anyone else do so;
  • remove or change any copyright or licence notice;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or take apart Eventfox, except where the law says you're allowed to whatever this licence says.

4. Your data

The data you collect with Eventfox is yours. Eventfox doesn't send it, or anything about how you use Eventfox, to the licensor. Licence keys are checked on your own server. If you have a paid licence, Eventfox contacts the licensor's website about once a day to collect your renewed licence key automatically; it sends only your current licence key and nothing else.

5. Ownership

Eventfox is licensed, not sold. The licensor keeps all rights not given to you in writing here.

6. Ending

If you break this licence, your right to use Eventfox ends automatically. If you put it right within 30 days of the licensor telling you, your right comes back. When a paid licence ends or expires, you may keep using Eventfox only for free personal use as described in section 1. Eventfox won't delete or lock your data when that happens.

7. No warranty

Eventfox is provided "as is", without any warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. You're responsible for how you use it and for following the privacy laws that apply to you.

8. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, the licensor is not liable for any loss or damage arising from Eventfox or this licence. If the licensor is liable despite this, the total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in this licence limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law.

9. Changes

The licensor may offer later versions of Eventfox under different terms. Each version stays under the licence it came with.

10. Consumers

If you use Eventfox as a consumer (for free personal use, not for a business), nothing in this licence affects your legal rights as a consumer.

11. Law and courts

This licence, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, is governed by the law of Scotland. The courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
