Funnels
A funnel counts how many people get from one step to the next, in order, and shows where they drop off. Every plan includes funnels.
Building a funnel
- Open Funnels in the project and choose New funnel.
- Add two to five steps. Each step is an event:
$pageviewor one of your custom events. - Optionally narrow a step with a filter, for example the page path equals
/pricing, or a property equals a value. - Choose the window: 1, 7, 14 or 30 days.
- Name it and save. The builder shows a preview for the last 30 days as you work.
Reading the results
- Entered is how many people reached step 1. Completed is how many reached the last step.
- Overall conversion is completed divided by entered, with the change in percentage points against the previous period.
- Each step shows its count, the share of the start, the share of the previous step, the number who dropped off, and the median time from the previous step.
How people are counted
In Standard mode a funnel follows each visitor. Every later step must happen after the previous one and within the window of step 1.
In Privacy mode there are no lasting visitor IDs, so a funnel follows each session instead: every step must happen in the same session, and the window setting doesn't apply.
Limits
Funnels can look at up to 90 days at a time. Only admins can create, edit and delete funnels; viewers can open every funnel's results.
