Standard mode Standard
The fullest picture. Unique and returning visitors, city-level location and browser versions. Use it for signed-in apps, or sites where visitors have given consent.
Eventfox shows page views, custom events, funnels and sessions for your websites and web apps. It runs on your own server, keeps its data in your own Postgres database, and lets you choose, project by project, how much it stores.

The privacy switch
Most analytics tools make one choice for you. Eventfox lets each project run in Standard or Privacy mode, and it drops anything a mode doesn't allow before it reaches the database.
The fullest picture. Unique and returning visitors, city-level location and browser versions. Use it for signed-in apps, or sites where visitors have given consent.
No IP addresses, no cookies, nothing stored on the visitor's device. Counts sessions instead of people and shows country only. In most cases you won't need a cookie banner.
| Feature | Standard mode | Privacy mode |
|---|---|---|
| Page views, custom events and funnels | Yes | Yes |
| Pages, sources, UTM campaigns, browsers and devices | Yes | Yes |
| Unique and returning visitors | Yes | No, sessions instead |
| Location | Country and city | Country only |
| IP addresses stored | Yes | Never |
| Anything stored on the visitor's device | A random ID | Nothing |
| Session replay and heatmaps Planned | Optional, off by default | Not available |
Standard doesn't have to mean everything. Each project has its own switches, so you keep exactly what you need and drop the rest before it's stored. Privacy mode simply turns them all off.
Features
Send any event from your site or app with one line of code, with up to 20 properties.
See how many people get from one step to the next, and where they drop off. Included free.
Pages, entry and exit pages, referrers, UTM campaigns, countries, browsers and devices.
Admins manage settings. Viewers see every project's numbers and can't change anything.
Choose how long each project keeps data, and delete a single visitor's events on request.
Replace a project's public key with a grace period, so nothing breaks while your sites update.
On the roadmap: session view, CSV export, email reports and alerts, retention cohorts, journeys, custom dashboards and a read API.

Other self-hosted tools are free, then keep their best features for their own paid cloud. Eventfox gives self-hosters the whole product.
Umami, Plausible: one fixed setting
Privacy or Standard mode per project, with switches for IP addresses, city, versions and returning visitors. Change your mind later without reinstalling.
Plausible CE: not included
See where people drop off between steps. Plausible's free self-hosted version leaves funnels and journeys out.
Umami: cloud only
A weekly summary and a heads-up when traffic drops, sent from your install. Umami only offers these on its cloud.
Umami: cloud Business plan only
Watch how visitors use a page, in Standard mode only, off until you turn it on, with typed text masked.
Others: a separate database
Eventfox lives in its own schema inside a Postgres you already run, including Supabase, and never touches anything else.
Free alternatives: community forums only
Team and Business plans come with email support from the people who build Eventfox.

Questions
Yes, for hobby sites that don't earn money: one user, up to 10 projects, unlimited events and every analytics feature. Anything that earns money needs a Pro, Team or Business licence.
In your own Postgres database, on a server you choose. Eventfox never sends us your analytics data, or anything about how you use it. Licence keys are checked on your own server. Paid licences renew automatically: once a day Eventfox sends only your licence key to eventfox.dev to collect a newer one.
In Privacy mode Eventfox stores nothing on the visitor's device and no IP addresses, so most sites won't need one for analytics. Standard mode stores a random ID, which usually needs consent in the UK and EU.
A server or computer that runs Docker, and a web address pointing at it. The all-in-one setup includes Postgres and free HTTPS. A small cloud server costs a few pounds a month.
Eventfox lets you choose Standard or Privacy mode for each project, and it can run inside a Postgres database you already have, in its own schema. Team and Business plans include email support.
